Lush | King Of Skin

£5.75 (75g)

This is, hands down without a doubt my favourite product by Lush. King of Skin glides onto wet skin and leaves you feeling soft and luxuriously moisturised. This body butter is filled with fresh bananas, fresh avocado, oat milk, cocoa butter and sandalwood oil – all of these ingredients combined soothe and nourish the skin.

The smell is delicious and is not overpowering. When I get out of the shower, I quickly pat myself dry and whilst I am still a bit damp, I rub this in. It melts really quickly into the skin so you have to be quite quick.

Overall, it is one of the best products I have ever tried from Lush. I really love how moisturising it is to my skin, I have seen a huge improvement since using this product. I will hundred percent be repurchasing this product and I will definitely be including it into my skincare regime. I would definitely recommend it!

Have you tried this product? I would love to hear what you thought about it.

Top 5 Thursday | Winter Nail Varnishes

Nails Inc - Big Apple Red (buy here)
This perfect if you want to add a pop of colour to a plain outfit. It applies very easily and one coat does plenty. I think the quality of this nail polish is amazing. I know Nails Inc can be a bit pricey but it is definitely worth it!

NYC Foil Explosion - Magic Earth (buy here
Just one coat gives a super-reflective metallic finish, it is the ultimate fashion accessory at your fingertips.

Technic - Mermaid (buy here)
This is a lovely clear polish with green and blue glitter inside. It looks gorgeous as a top coat on a matte black polish.

Barry M - Raspberry (buy here)

You can never gone wrong with Barry M. It is affordable and has a huge range of fun colours to experiment with. This colour is called Raspberry and as you can see it is a plain berry red, perfect for festive occasions! You can buy this from Boots or Superdrug for just £2.99

High Maintenance - Silver (buy here)

The last nail varnish, I think is very wintery. Silvers and golds are always on trend throughout the winter season.

Winter Wonderland 2014

Yesterday, Roni, Thelma, Oliver and I took a day trip to London. First stop was the British Museum, we walked around and had a look before heading to Covent Garden.

Whilst in Covent Garden, I decided to take everyone to Lola’s Cupcakes as they had never been before. The red velvet cupcake was delicious! Thelma had the cookie and cream flavoured cupcake and I could not help myself but take a bite. If you are ever near the area of Covent Garden be sure to pop into Lola’s Cupcakes!

Lastly, before heading home we went to the Cirque Berserk Circus at the Winter Wonderland. The show was a great experience, full of daredevil antics and jaw-dropping acts that kept me on the edge of my seat. If any of you are thinking of going to the Winter Wonderland this year, I recommended going to see the Cirque Berserk show you will not be left disappointed.

December

Winter has officially made itself at home here in the UK. The evenings are getting colder and darker, coats, scarves and gloves have become daily musts to avoid freezing and turning into an ice cube, and conversations start with "Brrrr, its freezing!!”

This month, I have a lot to look forward to. On Saturday, I will be attending the Cirque Berserk show at the Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. On the 26th I will be celebrating my fifteenth birthday and most importantly CHRISTMAS, December is definitely going to be a good month!

would also like to say a big thank you to everyone who views my blog. I recently reached 4000 page views!

Weekend Reading

Anyone who has not read 'Looking for Alaska' I recommend you do. I was recommended by one of my close friends and it is currently my favourite novel.

Miles Halter, the protagonist, is fascinated by famous last words and tired of his safe life at home. He leaves for boarding school to seek what the dying poet Francois Rabelais called the “Great Perhaps.” Much awaits Miles at Culver Creek, including Alaska Young. Alaska pulls Miles into her labyrinth and catapults him into the Great Perhaps. I do not want to give too much away so pop down to your local bookstore to find out more...

Every month I buy an issue of Glamour magazine, this month Keira Knightley is on the cover of the November issue. Glamour offers the very latest celebrity gossip, fashion trends, hair and beauty tips – All for just £2 a month.

Although it's not quite reading, take a few minutes out of your day and listen to Ed Sheeran, Thinking Out Loud. The music video and lyrics are beautiful.

If you have any book recommendations, make sure to leave a comment down below.

Autumn Lips

One of my favourite things about autumn is all of the beautiful seasonal colours and shades. When the weather gets cooler I tend to move away from pastel shades and into dark, berry tones. This year, I decided to try out Topshops lipstick range.

The damned is a vampy, dark purple shade similar to the MAC Heroine lipstick. The colour is perfect for most skin tones as it is not too bright but still the perfect colour for autumn.

Topshop lipsticks have to be the best I have ever used. I would recommend you add this little beauty to your makeup collection if you are looking for the perfect autumn lipstick!

Quick Update

I would like to apologies for the lack of posts on my blog as of late. Year 10 is a lot more work than I had anticipated. I had planned to upload twice a week but I did not realised that I would have a heavy workload only four weeks into the school year.

I am currently working on my blog design, more changes coming soon. Between the blog changes and working on new things, I have also been struggling to cope with my anxiety. I have been having a very difficult time and it has made everything that much harder for me. Nevertheless, I am still motivated to keep my blog going!

Whilst I am working on blog changes, I would love to know what you would all like to see me post more about. Please feel free to leave your feedback in the comments and let me know what posts you are most interested in reading on my blog. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated as I want to produce more content that you want to read. I promise regular blog updates will resume soon but in the mean time I am very active over on my Twitter account: @franciscarockey and update there almost every day.

I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who views my blog. I recently reached 3000 page views!

Thanks for reading,

Fran

Balancing Blogging With School

Blogging is not as easy as it looks! A lot of time and effort is put into every post but sometimes I struggle to find the right balance between blogging and school, I want to put in as much effort into my blog as I can but I also need time to revise and do homework. I wish non-bloggers knew how much time and effort is put into each and every post.

Photograph In Bulk
Take photos of 4 or 5 products at a time, then upload and save them to which ever device you use for blogging. This means that if you are ever struggling for time to take photos, you will always have some stored on your device for you to use whenever they are needed.

Draft. Draft. Draft.
Writing blog posts in advance is very useful. Dedicate one day a week preferably a weekend, where you sit and draft posts for the upcoming week. This saves a lot of time and means you will only have to worry about publishing the posts as it will already be written.

Get A Blogging Diary
Get a notebook or diary to jot down ideas and post schedules, you can also use this to write down your school deadlines and what date you want to publish which post. It helps to keep you on track and stress free!

How do you juggle blogging and school?

Granny Takes A Dip

Recently I took a visit to my local Lush store and purchased the new 'Granny Takes A Dip' bath bomb.

Granny Takes A Dip’ has a refreshing citrus scent to it, and contains ingredients such as; lemon oil, black pepper oil and ginger oil. The lemon and ginger leaves your skin smelling amazing! The bomb turns your bath into an array of bright, vibrant, rainbow colours and is perfect for a Sunday pampering session.

I would definitely like to try some more products from Lush; ‘The Comforter’ bubble bar looks enticing.

What is your favourite Lush product?

Entering New Territory

Tomorrow I will be entering GCSE year, Year 10 and I will be studying German, Geography and Physical Education for the next two years. I am quite nervous to be starting GCSE's but I am also quite excited as I love the subjects that I chose and I am now also one year closer to leaving High school.

Keep Organised
Make sure to hand every piece of work in on time and complete work the night it is set, so that you can have a stress free year and more spare time on weekends. Get a planner so that you can write down all of your exams dates, when you have to study, and when you have homework due. Time management is essential. If you're given an assignment that's due next week, don't procrastinate, get started within a few days of receiving it. The more time you have, the less you will be stressed.

Study. Study. Study
Try to study in 20-50 minute intervals, taking five or ten minutes in between for a break. Breaking your studying into shorter periods of time will make it less of a chore also give yourself time to absorb the material before moving on. Make sure work is done before socialising, studying is a crucial part of learning, so do the work before heading out to have fun.

Be Optimistic
Being optimistic is always good. Seeing only the negative aspects of any situation can cause you to miss opportunities and neglect problems that need to be solved. Look for the light at the end of the tunnel and start seeing the glass as half full instead of half empty.

Good luck to everyone starting high school, college or university!

Summer Loving

This summer has consisted in a high consumption of ice cream whilst indulging in the UK's unusually hot weather.

I went to the Capital FM Summertime Ball back in June; it was my first ever festival experience! Some of the artists who performed at the STB were; Miley Cyrus, Calvin Harris, Ed Sheeran and many more. Possibly the best day of my life so far and I will hopefully be returning again next year!

In the month of July I went to the Bedford River Festival.  The festival was on Saturday 19th - Sunday 20th, I went with my sister and her boyfriend. It was a fun day, filled with live bands and an array of pop up shops selling little trinkets of jewellery and hand made items. I will definitely be attending the next River Festival in summer 2015.

Also in July, my friend and I took a spontaneous trip to London. Our first stop was Greenwich, we went on the Emirates Air Line, it was a great new experience (click here to read the full post)

And lastly to end the summer Emily and I decided to take a day trip to Brighton which resulted in quite a lot of money being spent at the Churchill Square shopping centre. (click here for read the full post)

Last but not least

I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who views my blog. I recently reached 2500 page views!

August Favourites

Once again here we are talking about how quickly the past few weeks have gone and more importantly what products I have been loving. Here are a few of the things  I have been loving throughout the month of August.

Beauty
I had never used a Soap & Glory scrub before and whilst in my local Boots store, I decided to purchase this little beauty. (click here for a full review)

I brought this Barry M nail paint back in June and I have worn it every day since! This shade nicely complements most summery outfits and the formula is high shine and long-lasting. What makes this product even better? It is only £2.99

Thanks to the Eyeko skinny liquid eyeliner, I can now create the perfect cat eye in less than 2 minutes. (click here for a full review)

Non-Beauty
A pair of cut out boots are essential for the summer but can also be worn during the autumn/winter season. They look great paired with a smock dress or a baggy tee with jeans for a simple and stylish look. I brought this pair from River Island back in February. (buy similar)

Music
Ed Sheeran - X (Album)
Ella Henderson - Ghost
The Kooks - Naive
1975's - Sex (Acoustic)
The Script - Superheroes

Summer Blues

It’s that time of the year once again! Back to school time. Before you start organising your school essentials, ask yourself – are you fully prepared for the new school year? I know that going back to school can be slightly depressing for most of us but unfortunately we have no choice, however we can make it easier for ourselves.

Routine
During the summer, staying up late and sleeping in are the norm, but as the start of the new school year draws near, getting back into a routine is essential! As we are now into the third week of August, school is just 3 weeks away from starting. Try and get yourself back into a regular sleeping pattern by going to sleep at least 15-20 minutes earlier at night and waking up 15-20 minutes earlier in the morning. This way once school begins it will not be a shock to your system.

Be equipped
Buying school supplies makes going back to school much more exciting. I buy most of my school supplies from Wilkinson and Tesco as they have a great selection of cute designs and also nearer to the end of August most of their stationary is usually on offer!

Relaxation
During the summer you have all the time in the world to do what you want, when you want. However when you get back to school, it can be difficult to find time to yourself when you have homework and exams to juggle. It is important to have one day a week where your relax and forget about everything that is worrying you.

Rememberwork hard and you can get anywhere you want.

Buy. Try. Review

£2.50 (50 ml)
I had never used a Soap & Glory scrub before and whilst in my local Boots store, I decided to purchase this little beauty. Flake away is a skin smoothing body exfoliate with Shea butter, sweet almond oil, peach seed powder, sea salt and sugar.

The smell is great without being overpowering and the texture is nice and thick without being too sticky, making it easier to apply. The scrubs exfoliates really well, as it contains sea salt the particles are quite large, without being abrasive or too drying. There was no oily residue left over on my face after I washed it off, I felt that the Shea butter was absorbed into my skin leaving it feeling moisturised.

Overall, It is an amazing scrub and I really love how moisturising it was to my skin. I will hundred percent be repurchasing this product and I will definitely be including it into my skincare regime.

Have you tried this product? I would love to hear what you thought about it.
